Kumquats are literally Sweet-Tarts candy in a citrus fruit form. They're grape sized and you eat the whole thing like grapes, rind and all. So the rind resists then Ka-POW!! sour chased by sweet. Its a surprise alright. Go discover it for yourself.

They served these a couple times when I was in middle school. Very fun to eat, and not bad.

As a kid in Florida, we had family friends that grew these and - to be honest - I didn't enjoy it as a kid. The citrusy/bitter from the rind just wasn't sweet enough for a kid…

Now, however - I like 'em and maybe I'll go look for some at the grocery store next time - thx for the reminder!

Good description!

Also, their name sounds vaguely NSFW, so that's fun, right?

I wrote a business plan back in college for one of my classes. A bar/restaurant named "Kumquats". The big sell was using Kumquats instead of lemons/limes in drinks.

Still sounds like a damn good concept, 30 years later.

My coworker started peeling an orange right as I scrolled to this post and for a second I thought I was smelling the kumquats through the screen and/or having a stroke.
